How to pipe cupcakes with buttercream using a savoy bag - simple
How to pipe cupcakes with buttercream using a savoy bag - simple
How to Pipe and Decorate your cupcakes, muffins, fairy cakes and small cakes using Buttercream, a Savoy piping bag and a Star Savoy tube. and some multi coloured edible dots / sprinkles. Step 1. First Pipe a blob of buttercream in the centre of your cake. This can be a different flavour to the rest of the piping or perhaps a blob of jam or Jelly or even a piece of fruit etc.. feel free to experiment :) Step 2. Now pipe round your first blob and continue in a spiral fashion until it is hidden, stop piping and lift the tube from the cake. Step 3. Sparingly place your edible dots or sprinkles onto the icing. try and make sure there isn't too much of one colour together. Place cake to one side and repeat :) The dotty cupcake cases, savoy piping bags and savoy piping tubes, sprinkles etc.. are all available from our online store at imaginativeicing.co.uk or at either of our Real world shops in York and Scarborough UK. Cheers! Yours Anthony Springall webmaster and cake designer/decorator Imaginative Icing Ltd

Decorating Cupcakes #45 Father's Day - The Lawnmower
Decorating Cupcakes #45 Father's Day - The Lawnmower
Show Dad you love him by making him some lawnmower cupcake (backyard barbecue cupcakes to be posted tomorrow) maybe make some of both? Found this idea on-line during a Google image search here: familyfun.go.com I modified it slightly, looks like they use a licorice piece for the handle and coconut for the grass. Instead of tootsie rolls you can used pieces of chocolate bar ( or chocolate candy like a Hershey's nugget) as well and you can use melted chocolate for the lawnmower handle if you don't have candy melting wafers where you are. The new intro shows two cupcakes that I haven't posted yet, did you catch them? The apple and the barbecue is coming up in the next coupe of days.

Decorating cupcakes #68: Colourful Elephant
This idea found in the book "Hello Cupcake" by Richardson and Tack, but I have seen variations on this in many different places. If you can't find candy melting wafers you could use marshmallow slices that have been dunked into blue sugar. You can tint white chocolate but it must be oil based food colours designed for candy making.

Decorating Cupcakes #56: The Swan
Decorating Cupcakes #56: The Swan
Winner of the "read the description box" give-away shown in the description box of the watermelon cupcake to be announced in tomorrow's video somewhere! I used the same pretzel and jellybean technique I used in the flamingo cupcake. The actual design of this one is original to me I think. If it does appear online I haven't seen it. Yes you can use white chocolate instead of the melting wafers After making this I realized the following: It would probably better if I would have attached the jelly bean head to the UNCOATED pretzel and then dunking the assembled piece into the coating. I think it would have been a smoother looking swan head/neck. I'm on Facebook! facebook.com If you try these or any other cupcakes upload photos to facebook and let me know!

Decorating Cupcakes #43: Penguin
I found this idea in a book called "Hello Cupcake" by Richardson and Tack. I modified the technique used in the book. I found that the melted icing dipping technique didn't work well with this one. I forgot to mention this in the video. If you use starburst candies for the beaks they will start to melt after 24 hrs on the cupcake. They should be placed on the cupcake just before serving.
